"Anchor Text Competitive Analysis - Is there a Tool or Tuel that can do this?"
|
Hi Kurt & all Bombers, I've got my head down, working on my bombing campaign, building my silver & tin sites, building links, etc. I've been using the Inz 2.0 tuel to find keywords that don't have a lot of competition in terms of the keyword in the page title, body text and on-page anchor-link text, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a tool (or tuel!) where I can enter my keywords and the response will provide details on how many sites are using that keyword as anchor text on external sites (or even on-site/off-site combination - a tool that includes off-site anchor text into the mix)? I know sites like backlinkwatch.com provide the anchor text for the first 1,000 sites, but that's more domain focused (enter a URL), verses keyword focused. From everything I've learned so far, the anchor text we use on other sites linking to ours plays a much more significant role than just our on site optimization (of course, both are recommended). I'm just thinking that in choosing the keywords to focus on as anchor text, it would be very helpful to know how much competition each keyword has in terms of being used as off-site anchor text. Any suggestions? Recommendations? Ideas? Can I get a witness? Thanks, Mike SWAT

Hi Mike... First, I'm not 100% sure about the "inanchor" command. I've heard both, that it refers to "on page" and I've also heard it means that page has at least one external link using that keyword text. About.com says "Inanchor: is Google syntax to search only the anchor text of Web pages. Results are listed based on the text used in the backlinks or outside links pointing to the page." http://google.about.com/od/i/g/inanchordef.htm About.com's description is also my "latest" belief. In this case, Inz is reporting this info, granted the results must also include the keywords onpage in the title and body content. Not what you're looking for, but here's a Firefox plugin that's similiar to Backlink Watch, and a little better: http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/
-Boom boom boom boom.
