"How To Make an RSS Pheed for Extreme Automated Self-Linking"
|
LAST EDITED ON Nov-18-07 AT 08:35 PM (PST) Our mission is to create tons and tons of pages and put them in tons and tons of different "places".Then we want to link these all together. If we do a little planning ahead, we can automate much of this, so as we add new pages to our network, we can cross-link these new pages with our older pages, and vice versa, without having to log into each and every domain we own. And we're going to do this by using RSS. As you seek out third party hosting opportunities, you want to give priority on those that: A. Produce an RSS pheed B. Can import RSS pheeds Not every resource needs to allow you to import/export RSS, but do make it a priority when possible. From now on, whenever you create pages you should also build a database of links to those pages, using text files in FatBomb format: URL|Title|Description This not only makes it easy to add your own resources to FatBomb (and Fatty pages), we can now use the RZZ Tuel to easily convert them to RSS. You should have Tuelz downloaded. For directions for RZZ, click on the info/forum link. As you keep making pages, keep adding links to your link file(s) and keep creating RSS pheeds. Then we can use BlogBomb to automatically add links based on keywords to all of our pages, as well as on other resources that import RSS. Now instead of having to update 20 domains (or more), then FTP these updates to every site we own, we'll just update our RSS pheeds and our pages will automatically update our links for us. Again, the purpose of this thread it to get you to plan ahead, learn how to use RZZ to create RSS pheeds from your own links so that we can automate much of our linking down the road. Download all Tuelz here: www.tuelz.com/download.html To just download RZZ, it is attached to this post: Download Unzip Move rzz.mod to Tuelz folder Exit/Restart Tuelz Click RZZ Link Note: You must start tuelz.exe to access the Tuelz, you can NOT click on them directly.

Hi Kurt, I don't understand how this works conceptually! I can make the RZZ feed no problem. >From now on, whenever you create pages you should also build >a database of links to those pages, using text files in >FatBomb format: > >URL|Title|Description Is this a manual process then that is done for every page that is created? >As you keep making pages, keep adding links to your link >file(s) and keep creating RSS pheeds. So we create multiple feeds? >Again, the purpose of this thread it to get you to plan >ahead, learn how to use RZZ to create RSS pheeds from your >own links so that we can automate much of our linking down >the road. Sounds great. I just need to get my brain around it so I can actually plan properly. Sorry for being so dense! Ed |

H Ed, >Is this a manual process then that is done for every page >that is created?
It can be manual, or a program like SpiderBomb can do it, if you have a good linking structure. SpiderBomb outputs in Fatbomb format, which is what RZZ uses. Google site maps can probably be converted, etc. >>As you keep making pages, keep adding links to your link >>file(s) and keep creating RSS pheeds.
>So we create multiple feeds? You would use multiple pheeds if you have different niches or if the RSS files become too big, or a variety of other reasons. The point being, you want to have a database containing links to as many of your pages, across all domains, as possible. Most SEOers use MYSQL, however I feel RSS is much easier and just as effective. I should also say, depending on how many pages you have, you don't need to include each and every page in your RSS "databases". However, you will want to make sure you include the important pages, such as those you want to rank or those that contain links to lots of your other pages.

somewhat on topic question. I have a site with 22,000 pages. I just made a rss feed out of the entire site. Now I upload it and point a blog and ping program at the rss feed to get it spidered? How can I automate that so it feeds different pages/links out of the 22,000? Or am I clueless and need to start over....
btw, this is a great free tool to quickly spider any site and build google sitemaps, rss feeds, spreadsheets, etc

Hi Larry, 22,000 RSS items is probably beyond the limits of BlogBomb, as PERL has a certain limitation of number of lines it will parse. It could also cause a time-out while BlogBomb searched through them all. Also, a lot depends on your own internal linking structure...How have you linked the 22,000 pages with each other? Are they static or dynamic pages? One option is to create what Eli at BluehatSEO calls a "rolling site map". This basically means to split the RSS pheeds/site maps into multiple, smaller files, then rotate through each. To take this concept further, you could/should create a bunch of subdomains, preferably on a different IP/Host, and use a different RSS file for each. Getting 22,000 pages indexed takes some work and some time, and you should probably be happy with a 50% success rate. Depending on link structure, it's often best to use 20,000 of the pages to build links to the other 2,000 to increase their chance of ranking, focusing the extrenal linking resources on the 2,000. Now, to answer the question directly, I'd either start breaking the file up into many smaller RSS files, or you'll likely need to create a MYSQL database that can be searched and exported as RSS.
