First, this is something that gave me fits (I didn't have a ReadMe).

When creating a list you'll see "Preview". When you enter the Preview mode and make change on that page, you'll return to that List's admin.

At this point, you HAVE NOT modified the list yet. If you want to keep this template, you'll have to click "MODIFY" on the LIST ADMIN page, before your template is saved for that list.

Remember this one, I spent a few hours on it. LOL

On the preview page, you will see a list of available tags.

I think most are pretty self-explanatory, so here's the RSS tags needed to insert info into Gbomb pages and emails:

{rss:1,1}, {title:1,1}, {description:1,1}, {xml:1,1}, {html:1,1}:

The first number is the instance of blogbomb entered on the CONFIG page.

The first Blogbomb you enter on Config is 1, the second is 2, etc.

For example:
{rss:1,1}
{rss:2,1}

These tags will each call a different Blogbomb, again this is set in the CONFIG page.

The second number if the "feed" or "user-1" number in BlogBomb.

For example:
{rss:1,3}

This tag will use the first instance of Blogbomb, the third feed (user-3).

Next, we have the number or "Items" to display:
{rss:2,3=5}

This tag will display the second instance of Blogbomb, the third feed, and 5 items from that feed.

The other tags:
{title:1,1}, {description:1,1}, {xml:1,1}, {html:1,1}

These need to be entered into Blogbomb. If you're using the Xtreme form to enter feeds enmasse, these tags will return blanks.

Honestly, I've found it easier to just "hard code" this info into my templates, and I really don't see myself using them.

But they're there, if you wish.

Be sure that your templates directory is set to 777 !!!
Everything seems fine in browsers.. but it isn't written to the templates.. SO you won't have the correct result !!

Here's the GBomb HTML I use for the www.lizardz.com archive pages.

For an actual example of the output:

Thanks Kurt

Great example of how easy it is to contruct GFBomb output
for web pages and emails.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey Rick...No problem.

A note to All: Remember this forum adds the infamous ; to the links. Look for the ;;;;;'s below, to see an example and be sure to remove the offending ;;;;;'s from the html.

#7, RE: GBOMB Templates and tags - calling GB output using SSI

I've gotten Gbomb to work for me.

I want to be able to use the archived pages as a source for blog pages.

Here is my BBX and GB test output page:

www.appraisertools.com/rssnews.htm

Towards the bottom, I have "DATA PULLED FROM GODFATHER BOMB ARCHIVES"

The data is from one archive file and is simply pulled into the page using:

<!--#include virtual="/archives/message-20040118215702.html" -->

Then, below that I show the list of links to the archived news using:

<!--#include virtual="/archives/links-keyword.txt" -->

-----------
My questions are this:

1) GB does not setup a path for the links written to the archive "links-keyword.txt" except only for the file name. When you created your list of Huge Archives links on Lizardz, did you have to open your GB-archived "keywords.txt" file and run it through LinkBomb, or use Search and Replace, so that the links would have the full path to the archive directory on your server?

2) Say you have an archived html page with 10 articles on it but you only want to show 2 results on a blog page that pulls from your archived articles, how would you do that?

Could you have something like this:

<!--#include virtual="/archives/message-20040118215702.html&results=2" -->

I know an html document is not a script, so "results=2" would not apply; but, you get the idea I hope.

Perhaps the SpiderBomb needs to be used here? I just don't know.

You show links in your example like:

<B><A HREF="http://www.rocketnews.com/rocket/jsp/MonitorSearch.jsp?searchWords=camping&cat=general&age=2
">Camping News from RocketNews:</B></A>
<BR> <BR>{rss:2,9=2}<BR> <BR>

But, surely you're not keying in those links individually for each news service?

Is the tag {rss:2,9=2} going right onto your html page? For example, would I code that tag into my "The Latest News" page at:

www.appraisertools.com/rssnews.htm

I was able to get everything up and running with GB pretty well. E-mails were sent properly. Still haven't tested bounce handling, etc.

I also added several hundred pages to haxwax-realestate.com yesterday and can't wait to put together some new templates to include GB stuff.

I see how you create the Archive links by coding the Index Template correctly to point to a path on your domain.

I then use this to get my links onto my web page:

<!--#include virtual="/archives/links-keyword.txt" -->

Is there a way to use SSI to include the archived pages.
I have:

<!--#include virtual="/archives/message-20040118215702.html" -->

but this type linking would have to be hand coded for each individual archived page.

I want to be able to include some archived stuff on a blog, but perhaps not the entire newsletter (or entire message-200401etc.html page).

Should I use SpiderBomb for this? I just wonder if there is a way to automatically generate an SSI (or SSIs) for each individual html archive file.

I asked this earlier but I'm not sure if the post went through.

My GB test is at:

www.appraisertools.com/rssnews.htm

Eben,

That's really up to your blog to do what you're asking...And I doubt your blog software can do it, although I could be wrong.

GBomb really isn't designed to work with every possible combination of software. No scripts can/are.

GBomb is built to create it's own archives, not to create archives for blog scripts, if that makes sense.

What I would do is see if you can't include the archive links file to be inserted in the Blog header/footer, displaying updated links to your archived links to your blog.

If your blog is PHP, I think someone posted the php include in the private forum...(?)
