Backerz Readme.
Backerz adds "Next" and "Back" links to all html pages in selected directory,
creating a natural flow to navigate all your pages, for both your site's
visitors and search engine spiders. Custom Text:
You have a lot of control over how your links will be displayed on your pages.
You can use html for formatting, adding graphics, etc. Experiment to discover
all the possibilities.
You can add html and text in these places:
-Before Links:
-Between Links:
-After Links:
Preview:
To use the Preview feature, simply make some changes in your link format,
then click any where in the page and look for the updates. Note: Preview
function only works in Internet Explorer.
Add links: Before or After
Once Backerz has created a list of all the links, you need to it where on your page to add your index of links.
This text:
This will determine the text Keymapz uses to place your list of links on your pages. It is important that you chose a text string
that only occurs one time on your pages.
A good, safe place to insert links is just
before the </body> tag of your pages. Every webpage has the
</body> tag and you will want to put your links BEFORE the ending
</body> tag.
A basic formatting example:
1 Before Links: <<
2 Between Links: || (Note blank spaces before and after the || )
3 After Links: >>
Back Link Text: Last
Nest Page Text: Next
4 Choose ADD LINKS BEFORE
5 Use </body> for THIS TEXT.
This will create links at the bottom of the
page(s) formatted like this:
<< Last || Next>>
Tip: Try to use keywords creatively instead of "Last" or "Next" to help the relevancy of your pages.
You can also use formatting such as <center>, <br>, as well as select fonts, size, color, <hr> etc. Just be sure to remember to include any needed closing for AFTER LINKS.
Case Sensitive
Will respect (or not) capital letters.
Files:
Click BROWSE
Navigate to the folder containing your pages, or click link to recently selected folder.
Click OK
This will load all the page's names in the folder you selected into the form.
The order of the pages listed is the order Backerz will use when "connecting" all your pages. Once it reaches the last page, it will link back to the first page.
You may re-order or delete any of the pages listed in this directory to control the order of the page linking structure.

Hi Kurt,Regarding your post in the private forum :
>You can try FireFox...ZZ works with Firefox on my PC, but
>then so does IE.
I am not able to use Backerz in my Firefox. I cannot enter anything in the fields "Before", "After" etc. It seemed to be read-only. Are you able to edit these fields on your machine?
Also, I tried putting about 2380+ filenames in the "Files:" textbox. When I click the "Add Backerz Links", I get this error :
Invalid field format at Targets : Field too long
However, if I break down the file list in smaller numbers, I do not get any error. Is there a limit to the number of files I can put in there? Is it a bug or a limitation of the software?
Also, I seemed to get the message "The page cannot be displayed" quite often whenever I tried to do a form submission by clicking the "Add Backerz Links" button. I have to click the browser back button, retry a few more times, before I can proceed successfully. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
AP

You'll need IE in most cases...

A little bit of both...The limit is more a limitation of your browser than Tuelz, but the impact is the same...
Also, you probably should take the time and break it down even further, from an SEO point of view...
"Natural" linking is usually smaller groups of pages cross-linked...Take some extra time, as this is an important point.

This was reported before...This is actually a browser problem. Backerz is working, but the browser will report it as an error.
If you hit your "Back" button and also check your pages, you'll see the modifications were made.
It's a nuisance, but doesn't impact the actual "doing".

Hey Kurt,I noticed something "Anti-Kurt" after you use "Backerz"...
<!-- Start Backerz Tag -->
<!-- End Backerz Tag -->
Aren't these nasty fingerprints?

Not if we build a Listz on this thread that details all comment tags:
http://www.dombom.com/dcforum/DCForumID27/20.htmlThen, all that's needed is to run Listz a single time and it will remove any prints.
The prints were left in the first place so that any errors/edits can be made using Tagz and/or Randomz, then later removed using Listz.
While we may leave some prints, we're "dusting the scene of the crime" before making our get-a-way.
Once this list of fingerprints prints is created, Listz should always be the last step in page production to make sure any "fingerprints" are removed.
Also, you don't necessarily have to remove the comment tags, just changing them to something "custom" so they can be changed back later may also be a consideration.
So, please start posting any comment tags you find and we can all create one "listz" that we can each download periodically and use:

Smart...I was already using "listz" to clean it up...
But, I love the idea of a "master listz".

New user to everything here - blogbomb - godfather, all the tuelz, etc... be easy Here it is... is there a limit to the number of pages backerz will work on?
When I run it on 40 or 50 pages... works fine.
When I run it on say 4000 pages... it does a refresh and takes me to the page not found page.
Using xp pro - ie 6 latest - tried it on my p4 and my athlon 64 bit - same thing happened on both machines.

Andrew,This is actually a limitation of the browser and not of Tuelz, per say, although the outcome is the same.
Also, this problem has been discussed on other threads, as it pertains to all Tuelz and not one individually and only affects large numbers of pages.
The good news: The page not found error IS the error. The changes are (should be) still made, it's just the "status" is the bug. If you hit your browser "back button" you should be OK.
After getting this error, double check the pages themselves for any modifications, you should see that the changes were made, DESPITE the "page not found" page.
Again, it's only the "page not found" that's in error and not the actual function of the Tuelz.

thanks Kurt... did not modify the pages... tried what you said. still receive the page not found.. no mods made. just want to add... wish I had starting using these bombs years ago... had heard they were hard to install, etc. blogbomb was one of the easiest scripts I ever installed... have not tried GFB yet.I'll do a search and see what was discussed in the other threads. May just try 2000 pages or 1000 pages at a time and link them that way.
Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,From a purely SE point of view, you will probably want to use smaller numbers of pages than linking all 4000.
Have Backerz create a list of pages in the folder and "cut" the entire list of pages into a text document.
Then, "cut" lists of 4-100 pages in each list, varying it a lot, and run each list...Sometimes have only four pages, and another have 98, and another 12 and another 56 pages, until your main list is gone.
Be sure to save one or two pages from each list you've, and create and repeat Backerz, using only the second list of pages.
Using smaller groups of pages takes extra time, but looks much more "natural".
Then, taking a single page from each group and making a second group, "weaves" all the groups together, in a very passive/natural manner.

Make Backerz Buttons!Here's some css code to make your backerz links look like buttons:
<style type="text/css">
<!--
#xx a {border:1px solid #ccc;background-color:#ececec;padding:1px;}
#xx a:hover {background-color:#ccccff;border:1px solid #ccc;}
-->
</style>
Then on your page you would have:
<div id="xx"> <!-- backerz links --></div>
Any link after the first div tag will have 1px solid border with a lite gray background with 1px of padding around the inside text.
Instead of "||" I use a between the two.
Just a little trick/formatting thingy.

I set up a directory project in zz, named the folder on my pc directoryprojects, with a subfolder named keywoord pages and five subfolders aer under that. For whatever reason backerz will work on only two out of the five sub-subfolders. It seems that the when I use the 'browse' function to find the file I want tto insert backerz on, after I select the file, it aautmatically goes back to selecting one of the files that has already been 'backerzd'. Any ideas?

It's odd... Could you tell me how the subdirectories and files
are named?
