Tagz Readme.
Tagz replaces everything in between, but not including, the two html tags you specify.Starting Tag: Example: <title> Ending Tag:
Example: </title> Replace With: Example: My Web Site Tagz will go through all your page titles in your selected folder, and no matter what your pages titles are, the titles will all be changed to "My Web Site". While you probably don't want all your page titles the same, we used this example to give an idea of the concept of Tagz.

This is your 'Get out of Jail Free' Tuelz.I have just finished building an 1800 page website and Tagz saved my bacon 5 times. This might not sound like much until you consider the amount of work that I would have to redo to get 1800 pages back to where I wanted them. By putting heaps of different tags throughout the body of the webpage, it wasn't necessary for me to split the work into smaller units. I worked on all 1800 pages each time I made changes and knew that if I fouled up I could just select the code between any 2 tags and fix the problem. It also allowed me to work on sections of the 1800 pages by using Replacez to spread different Tagz throughout the folder I was working on.

What could be cas=using this problem? I managed to change 18400 files in one go and now I am getting this... Tuelz Software Error Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\webs.py", line 178, in do_GET File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 119, in handle File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 127, in traverse File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 54, in replace_action File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 132, in replace File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 138, in replace RuntimeError: maximum recursion limit exceeded
This is when I am trying to run smaller jobs

Hi Graeme,>What could be causing this problem? >I managed to change 18400 files in one go and now I am >getting this... The number of files doesn't matter. If you send me the file that broke tagz, I'll try to fix it. Or else you may archive all files and put them somewhere. I'll get them and find the problematic file by myself. Kirill

Hi Kirill I found it. I broke the big folder I had down into many smaller folders and worked my way through it with tagz until I found the folder that created the error. I then worked on the sub folders and found that one of them had completely different web pages (I must have saved them from an earleier job) and tagz was stopping when it found these pages. When I removed them tagz worked perfectly again.

Hi I'm having the same problem as described aboveTraceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\webs.py", line 178, in do_GET File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 119, in handle File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 127, in traverse File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 54, in replace_action File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 138, in replace RuntimeError: maximum recursion limit exceeded But I haven't generated any pages. I've been given a series of articles by one of my affiliate sites and I'm trying to remove the html formatting by inserting tagz, then removing what's in between so I can add their articles to my site. But the above message keeps coming up. I made a test html page in dreamweaver, added a few tags and added and replaced content. Tagz worked fine. Went back to the pages taken from my affiliate managers site and tagz dies? Was a solution for this ever found or is this a bug in tagz? The two tags I was using as reference on the page were: <!DOCTYPE <!--CONTENT BEGINS --> Kirill, please let me know if you could have a look at my offending webpage to see if you can re-create the problem and I'll send you a copy. Thanks. Jonathan

JonathanI have had a similar problem on a few occasions. Check the folder you are working on to see if there are any different types of files there that could be causing the problem. Once - I had to remove an images folder, and another time I had a zip file in the folder that was causing the problem. If Tagz finds something strange it stopz.

Thanks I'll try that. When I originaly downloaded the files I saved each of them as webpage complete, which made a folder for each of them. That's probably the problem. I'll try ripping them straight to see if that works.Jonathan.

LAST EDITED ON May-11-05 AT 06:13 PM (PST) To whom it may concern... We (actually Kirill) have fixed the bug in Tagz causing the error if erroneous files were included in the project directory(ies). Hold on for about a day, we're also working on a new tuel called "Upgradez" which allows owners of various tuelz to easily check for, and download, any available updates/bug fixes. And I want to use the Tagz fix to test Upgradez, as well as to use Upgradez to distribute Tagz v.1.01.

Is tagz working o.k?I just can't seem to get it to replace some stuff for me, I've checked the path to the folder,no luck , moved the folder to the desktop, no luck, checked the tagz that I was looking to replace and it just won't substitute any files for some reason. By the way I have updated as well. Thanks Terry

Terry,Tagz is working for me. Did the first version work? Did you get any messages? And, what does the log file say? Restart Tuelz.exe so it clears the log, then restart Tagz and post the results freom the log file.

I managed to figure it out, the first string of html must have been too long (it was the only way I could make it unique) so I included part of the html that I wanted replaced to make it shorter and then used replace to remove the rest of the html. I must remember to think outside the square! Thanks, Terry

Hi Kurt,I keep getting this error message when using my tuelz to make pages; Tuelz Software Error Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\webs.py", line 178, in do_GET File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 119, in handle File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 127, in traverse File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 64, in replace_action File "./tagz.mod/tagz/tagztuels.py", line 154, in replace IOError: Permission denied: 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\websites\\LOS QUAPOS\\TMPoecmvbqzc4.htm'Any idea as to what I should do? Find this file using the Windows Explorer, right-click on it and choose "Properties". Check if the attribute "Read-only" is set. Unset it if it is set. Kirill
