This thread is for folks using FatSearch as their own search tuel.
After downloading Tuelz:
1. Click FatSearch
2. Choose Search Engines you want to use as your search resources.
3 "Weight" is a number given to each engine to tell FatSearch to give more/less "priority" to any given search resource.
You may give each engine an weight of 1 to 1000.
The higher the weight number, the higher this engine's results will factor into the FatSearch ranking formula.
4. Occurance Weight - Gives oints for each engine a link is listed in.
For example, let's say there are two sites:
A) Is ranked #1 in Google, but not ranked in other engines.
B) Ranked #10 in Google and #13 Yahoo.
Which site is "better"? the one that has a higher rank or the one that is listed in more search engines?
With FatSearch, that's up to you to decide.
If you prefer High Rank, give the Occurance Weight a LOWER number.
If you prefer number of engines, give the Occurance Weight a HIGHER number.
The best way is just to adjust it to suit your own tastes and searches, to find the setting that gives you the most accurate results.
5. PREVIEW feaure opens the link in a "mini window" so you don't have to leave the FatSearch results pages to take a quick look at a webpage.
This can be a very useful feature. However, some webpages use techniques that make the preview feature incompatiable with their sites. If this happens to you, it is best to ignore the Preview links.
6. The results contain these (or similar) numbers:
google #1, msn #2, teoma #4, wisenut #1, yahoo #2
EAch number refers to the Rank of the page in the given engine, making FatSearch valuable as a search engine marketing tuel to track and research page rankings across many search engines.
You can also use this information to help you with your SE marketing by finding and studying the pages and sites that rank highly in ALL engines.
These are the sites and pages using the techniques that need to be studied, not the pages that only rank highly in a given engine, as it is these "across the board" sites that dominate their markets.
7. Recent Searches - FatSearch creates clickable links generated from your most recent searches (25?). This makes "re-searching" as easy as clicking.
8. The more engines you select, the slower FatSearch will be. Many engines use duplicate results. If you see two engines returning the same (or very similar) results, disable one of them.
9. FatSearch Speed - FatSearch goes to each engine selected and examines only the mazimum results on the FIRST page of each engine's results.
For some engines this is 100 results, for others it may be 10 or 20.
By limiting the FatSearch "examination" to just the first page of results, FatSearch greatly increases the speed of your results.
I think you'll find that if you can't find a good site in the top "hundreds" of pages across the most powerful search engines, you probably won't find it ranked #773.
We believe you're probably better off enter some other keywords, regardless of the engine you are using.

You notice this site still comes up on top, but noticed the Total weight. See the difference? The numbers like #1 #2 and so on are how this site is ranked on a particular SE. The Total weight is the occurrence weight. The higher the occurrence weight the higher a particular site is listed on all major SE. The lower the number will give a particular site a higher number.
Look to the right and you'll see occurrence weight
set to a default of 100 change this number to whatever you like to see the difference.
You need to play around with Fat Search to get the feel of it. Just enter your keywords remembering to click the up date button located on the bottom
left side every time you make change to the engine weight and occurrence weight this will give you the update data.
So How does Fat Search Help? One way it can help you is by seeing what kind of sites your keywords
would produce, how they rank, what they do to earn this rank, and so on.
A good tool to use with Fat Search is Nick's Index
bomb. Index bomb show how many pages a particular site has indexed in all the major SE. It can show also how many pages of your site is indexed. You can take the two (one at a time though) and do a lot of research into your sites and those of high ranking sites.
At the bottom of Fat Search you'll see many more sites and their rank by clicking on the Next button, simi liar to Fat Bomb. Below that are links based on your Keywords in SF. Later I'll explain how to put your affiliate Id in.
If you have any questions pertaining to Fat Search please post them here and not on the other categories. It helps and your questions will get answered faster.
Next stop would be Newz Tuel.
