Directions and tips for using the Rebrander.
You may only rebrand, give/sell these four core programs:
The Newz Tuel, FatSearch, Updatez, Moniterz.
First click the button in the Newz box. Here you may add hard coded (non-removable) and soft coded (removable) feeds. There is a limitation: All hard-coded feeds go to the main category, all soft-coded feeds go to any other categories.
So you need to create a Newz Tuel category for soft-coded feeds
in the REBRANDER before you can soft-code them.
Now you may click in the Updatez box. Here you may add soft- and hard-coded pages for Updatez. After you finished it, enter a directory name (for example "NASCAR") in the Rebrand box.
Tuelz will create a new folder called "NASCAR" in the same folder/directly Tuelz is in, with a branded copy of Tuelz.
Now close the current instance of Tuelz. Then go to your NASCAR directory and run tuelz.exe in the Niche Name directory.
Check the Updatez and Newz in it. You should see your
pages and pheeds there.
Also, check to make sure your SearchFeed and other stuff is working and rebranded.
Now, research and rebrand another niche, and repeat.

To rebrand Updatez:You may rebrand up to 2 hard coded pages that will be permanently inserted into Updatez, but can't be removed by your Users.
Enter the URL of the pages you want to track, selct from the options and click "Add Page".
Note: Be careful about how often you want to check pages for updates. If you have a lot of Users, all banging away needlessly as someone's server, you're not doing anyone any good.
I suggest setting your time to no more than once every day, unless you both own the server and you have a very, very good reason to update your info more often.

Rebrander - Customize GraphicYou may use either jpeg of giff.
Use the following dimensions for best results:
VERSION 1 ONLY
145 width
100 height
Version 2 ONLY
Download the blank banners here:
http://www.dombom.com/dcforum/User_files/450ef4d336c27dc5.zip
Then, upload your custom graphic to any website.
Next, take the URL of your uploaded graphic and paste it into the Tuelz rebrander.
For example, if you named your graphic hammer.jpg and uploaded it to the "root" (main) folder on your website, your URL will look like this:
h ttp://YourWebSite.com/hammer.jpg
If you don't want to mess with a graphic, we've included a generic one you can use. If somehow the path has been deleted, just paste this into the box to use the default graphic:
/tuelzbox/static/rebrand.jpg
We do recommend using your own graphic and hosting it on your own site. This allows you to change your graphic at any time, for any number of reasons.

Rebrander - SearchFeedTuelz has some original revenue streams.
By entering your SF ID, you can earn money for SF links appearing in the following places in Tuelz:
Fat Search Results - The top 8 results are displayed on each page of search results, meaning your highest paying links are diplayed on all SE results.
Newz Tuel
1. On category pages. If a user enters a new category, the name of that category will be the keywords used for the SF links displayed.
2. On the "More" or "pheed" page. The name of the pheed is used as the keywords for SF.
3. In the "Search Newz" results pages. The keywords used for the search determine the SF links.
Your End Users not only choose the content they want, they also target the ads to themselves.

The SF rebranding uses the real pheed title as the keywords. For example, a pheed from Daypop for "marketing" will create a keyword phrase of:
"daypop marketing". This isn't the optimal for making money and we're working on a fix. However, I do want to leave it for a while, as it makes for tracking via SF's affiliate panel a lot easier.

You can "hard code" up to two RSS pheeds. The reaosn this number is limited is because we feel it is important to maintain some sort of quality control on The Newz Tuel. If Tuelz got a reputation as being full of nothing but hard coded "sales pheeds", it will hurt the value of all.To enter RSS pheeds, first you need to know how to find them. For more on research and the basics of RSS, please visit our RSS forum:
http://www.dombom.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID23&conf=DCConfID1
Soft coded (Your users can delete these pheeds) - you can enter as many soft coded pheeds and categories as you want.
Note that your "Main Page" category can NOT be deleted.
Your goal is to create themes of content that appeals to specific "niches" or markets.
You want them to follow their favorite subjects, so you can follow up, and "capture" their search engine revenue by getting the to use FatSearch.
It is suggested that you really "think" about your categories.
Remember, you are also rebranding your SearchFeed links. You'll want to steer your Users as much as possible, so that your most profitable keywords are being used.
If possible, you'll want to chose keywords for your Users and not let them chose their own.
Users can add categories. You need to "get inside their heads" and "soft code" the categories you think your Users for this niche will want.
Also, set up some generic categories, such as "sports", "health", etc, to get some good keywords on their pages as "categories".

I like limiting the upfront sales message. From a end user perspective, you want it to be not so obutrusive. They already know its a trade off that anything free is usually going to have some space for advertising or sales. as for categories, you search for keywords, and poll your prospective users.

Kurt,Disregard. I know I cycled Tuelz on and off several times before and the "tuelbox" page didn't show the rebrander. I just went through a soft "reset" on the PC and when I powered Tuelz up again, there it was.
So, evidently error on my part. All is well in TuelTown.

I think this is because it contains letters as well as numbers. I've asked if I can change my username but they won't let me, can you let me know what you suggest.
Very interesting products by the way.

Can I rebrand several new times with different categories + use the rebranded-newz soft/hard feeds w/ zztuelz? On my original machine? Eg. Rebrand Name 'Ford', categories 'Mustang', 'Thunderbird' 'Taurus' 'Jaguar' ...
When I replace that newz-mod with new rebranded newz-mod and run tuelz I still get the old version newz running with old categories and feeds; after stopping and starting the tuelz. So I can't use my zz tuelz with the new rebranded newz.
I suspect we might need a separate tuelz installation somewhere for each version of newz.

Instead, after you've created a rebranded Tuel, exit the original Tuelz, then open tuelz.exe in the NEW folder created by the Rebrander.
Now you can move other Tuelz to this folder, however you will lose all previous settings and modifications to all other Tuelz, such as ZZ and Commentz projects, as all Tuelz use the same log.dat file to read preferences. This is necessary so if we give updates to Tuelz, your rebranding will remain after your Users upgrade.
Depending on how much work you've done with ZZ and Commentz projects, you can switch over....

Kelvin,
I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I wouldn't suggest mixing 1.0 and 2.0, although you can always make a copy/backup of your Tuelz folder and give it a try.

I misunderstood your original post about upgrading....I thought you already had 2.0?
You should have been able to download Rebrander 2.0 using Upgradez.
If it didn't work for you, email me and I'll send you Rebrander 2.0 that way.
The only changes for the Rebrander 2.0 are the layout...But that is probably a good reason to upgrade.

Hi Kurt,I finally got it.
If I remember, correctly, we were not able simply overwrite tuelz 1.0 with 2.0.
So we had to install 2.0 (as new), the new version did not have rebrand mod.
So, since u said it was ready, i went to an old install, grabbed the rebrand mod, copied it to the 2.0 directory, and then ran upgradez and it worked.
Thanks.
now, my problem is getting the first batch of users to reinstall.
If they have already started adding their own info, chances are they may not want to go through the trouble to upgrade.
Solution find new customers.

Kelvin,For your users to update, they just need to follow the directions on the Upgradez thread.
One difference between 1.0 and 2.0 I forgot to mention, is 2.0 includes Upgradez so all users can upgrade their Tuelz.
When they upgrade, their own info, as well as any of your rebranding, should remain, as this info isn't stored in the exe itself.

The Pheeds.com rebranding is no longer offered due to potential conflict with Google TOS. Sorry.
For the affiliate ID, just pick an ID, if I offer a Tuelz affiliate program, then you can send the ID to me, until then, there is no need. But still, enter an "affiliate ID" just in case...

I think it is a holdover from when you branded pheeds with adsense.
"Rebrand WikiPedia Results - We have a special package that lets you add a search engine that searches 150,000+ high quality encyclopedia articles, and if your FatSearch sends folks to our web-based encyclopedia, we'll share the ad space with you."

They can buy the Rebrander directly. The Rebrander really wasn't intended to be offered as a "third party service" (although there's nothing wrong with that), but you are performing a service, so if one was to buy the Rebrander they would need to put in the effort themselves.
