"Listz and SuperDuper Listz"
|
LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-06 AT 08:11 PM (PST)
Listz and SuperDuper Listz Readme.
Listz is a powerful search and replace program that will perform multiple search/replaces at once and is a useful tuel to perform repetitive search/replaces required of many a webmaster. Find: Enter the text you want to search for. More: Allows you to enter as many search/replace lines as needed. Less: Removes lines at your discretion, to conserve screen space. Load List:
If you have previously saved a list, you can easily use it again.
1. Select a list from the drop down menu. 2. Click LOAD LIST button. You should notice this list has been loaded in the search/replace boxes. Save List Enter a name and click SAVE. It's suggested that you use the .txt extension such as list1.txt. Saving lists is an easy way to use them again and again. Be sure to save any list you think you may want to use later. Folder/Path: This selects the folder of the pages you want to modify. -Click BROWSE -Navigate to the folder containing your pages, or click link to recently selected folder. -Click OK Subfolders Do you want to include the sub folders, meaning the folders located INSIDE your selected folder? If YES, check this box. CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN SELECTING SUBFOLDERS. IT IS VERY EASY TO FORGET WHAT'S INSIDE YOUR SUBFOLDERS.
Case Sensitive Will respect (or not) capital letters. Whole Words Will only include the search string if it is a "whole" word. For example, if you enter "pie", and select "whole words", pages containing "pies" (note the plural) will NOT be included.

Kurt, Can Listz be used in place of navi links? What I have done on my other sites was to create my top links and called them using ssi. On my new sites I would like to use Listz in place of navi links. I would create my ten best links on the top left side then as time goes on and more pages are created I would use Listz. Would this be ok? Tom |

>Kurt, >is there a limit with Superduper list. >If I plan to set up a thesaurus to work with Superlist how >many entries (synonyms)could be handled? Any experience with >this? >I bet you do Karsten, Actually, I'm not sure of the limit. I'd guess that there's only so many entries you can have per page...But, with SuperDuper Listz you can set up multiple files, so I'm not sure there is a "limit", as it would depend on many factors. Please let us know your results. Thanks.

>Kurt it is my understanding that supi should not replace >search phrases inside phrases when the "whole word" checkbox >is checked. > >e.g I want to replace gift with present but >superdupergiftwhatsoever should be not replaced then when >the checkbox is checked >Am I correct??? Yep, you are correct. If in doubt, I suggest being very careful when you DON'T use "whole word". For example, if replacing "the", without whole word, then you'll also relace the text string "the" no matter where it occurs, such as in "thesaurus". Again, use/don't use this feature with caution and forethought.

Any ideas what might caused >this problem??? >other than that its a great tool! Hey Karsten, It sounds like a bug to me, as I doubt it is unique to your PC. I'll try to test it a little later, when I get some time. In the meantime, try using blank spaces before and/or after the text string to isolate "words" as opposed to text strings. This "should" work. But be sure to test it on some dupe files just to be sure. To be honest, it may be a couple of weeks before a fix is issued, as Kirill ( our programer ) is getting ready to go on vacation and I've already have him over-loaded with stuff before he goes. And I agree, it is a real cool tuel.

Hi Kurt, my superduper was part of the tuelzkit 1 or 2. Got it together with rotatez. there is no upgrade link etc...I downloaded the whole enchilada of tuelz and changed my superlist against the limited version. The "whole word" does not work here either and it produces the same error message (see above)when my list is getting over 100 entrys. I just sent you my superlist back just in case you want to check which version I have Karsten |

Try this...I think what's happening is that your text files contain more than 100 lines, is this correct? If so, just split them up into smaller text files. For example, instead of having 150 lines in dog.text, divide it in half and have 75 lines in dog1.txt and 75 lines in dog2.txt . SuperDuper will still run just the same. Let me know if your TEXT files exceed 100 lines...

>Kurt, >yep my files are exceeding now 100 entrys. >but the error is not consistent means sometimes it works and >sometimes I have to split the files! Karsten,
I suggest you always keep the files under 100 lines. This is more of a browser issue than with Tuelz itself, although the end effect is the same. For the "whole word" issue, until it gets fixed, the work around is to use blank spaces before and after the word. _blue_ ...With underscores representing blank spaces. Another option is to create a "fixer file" and run it after the first file to correct any errors.
