8. "RE: Tag and Ping Blogs HTML"
|
Here is some info which I hope may be of some help. A tag generator: http://egmstrategy.com/ice/tag-generator.cfm for Technorati, Flickr, Del.icio.us and Furl. Also creates social bookmarks for the previous plus Digg, Yahoo, Blinklist, Spurl, Reddit and Furl talkinghubs.com pr 7 digg.com pr7 theadcloud.com pr 6 rojo.com pr77 Two different tools to mass submit and create tags available at downloads.com delicious submit delicioso These tools are meant for mass submitting urls and tags to Del.icio.us The problem with this is Del.icio.us has noarchive, nofollow, noindex However you can import these urls and tags into a Jots account Jots does not have noarchive, nofollow, noindex Multiple Jots accounts can be created and you can import the urls and tags to all of them. Theoretically this can give you numerous PR5 links in a few minutes. This will probably lead to lots of spam, which will probably lead Jots to change to noarchive, nofollow, noindex, as Graeme mentioned. Many of these sites have toolbar plugins. I personally don’t want toolbar plugins, but I have more than one OS installation on the same computer, so I may install the plugins into the OS I rarely use. I am using Windows 2000. I have server and professional on the same computer, but you could have two copies of professional. I believe you can do the same with XP if you partition the hard drive. It can be very useful when your OS crashes to still be able to access if from the other OS. Yahoo also has a toolbar that allows you to bookmark and add tags, but I believe you need the toolbar to add the tags. Not sure of this at this moment as I have previously bookmarked lots of sites with yahoo without installing the toolbar, although I never tagged. |

I have never been a big fan of Wordpress since using it 2 years ago. Perhaps now it is time to reconsider. Apparently Technorati and Ice Rocket automatically grab all posts in a "Wordpress Category" without the need to make any tags. This would make tag and pinging very easy. At this site "http://www.raoul.shacknet.nu/software/#wp-plugins" there are some Wordpress plugins including one called My-Tags that creates "tag directory" tags which if I understand correctly is different from ordinary "tags", and puts these "tag directory" tags automatically in each post and also the rss pheed. Permalinks has to be enabled and .htaccess set to 777 Lastly, as I am sure most know, as I have received lots of emails, there is a "new" software that will make hundreds of Wordpress blogs. Haven't tried it myself. If you didn't get such an email here is one of the many links I received: http://www.wpmassinstaller.com/ The price is $49 now and is apparently rising to $59 or more after Sunday. Castle |

14. "RE: Technorati Update"
|
When I did my report on places to submit pheeds: I probably mentioned that it works better for Technorati for submitting your pheed if you sign up if you want to be noticed, which I did. What I did not notice at the time (if it existed then) is that after you have signed up you need to "claim" your blog. Once you claim your blog you can add all sorts of tags that relate to your blog, including a tag that is the name of your blog. This makes your blog a lot more prominent. Of course it helps if you put tags in you blog posts too. I have been experimenting with this and although I have not seen any great increase in traffic yet, I sure am a lot more prominent in Technorati for my test site. One other point: You want a variety of tags, some topical, some less so. The tag listings get bumped by new tags. If you update your tags and posts frequently you will always be popping up in the current listings, but you will be regularly replaced by newer posts. If you choose a few tags that are not updated often in technorati the link from them to your site will stay on the first page or near the top of the listings a lot longer. Castle |
