I'm in an seo race with 500 other marketers and who better to ask for a little help! My partner is currently doing some things with Alex Jeffreys and the competition is the first person to get their blog to no 1 in Google for the keyword "Alex Jeffreys".

There is a prize, so I thought that if people did help me then if I did win I would donate $100 to Kurt so that he could purchase some software or whatever to help all the bombers.

It started last night, so JJ put a v quick blog post up with alex in the title to get the ball rolling.

Currently top of page 7.

I have run through BMD, digg, Stumble, a couple of blogs comments. And will continue to do a few other things.

If you could help in any way it would be much appreciated, bookmark or link with "Alex Jeffreys" as anchor would be fantastic.

Its a fairly new blog so no PR on its own yet.

Hi John,

being a bit slow today (it is Sunday night). PPC Webspy looks as though it for for keyword research etc, I'm not sure how this will help me?

I thought all I would do is get the most and best links to my site with the keyword anchor text as "Alex Jeffreys" asap....

Can you explain if I have missed something.

Obviously, the best strategy is to get links on pages that you know are already indexed. Once you get a link on a page, try pinging all those pages using Ping Goat and/or Pingz, regardless if it's not RSS.

I'm not sure how well this will work, but unlike "regular" seo, this is a race/sprint.

UPDATE :

Well this has been quite fun, heres what I have done so far:

Made a quick blog post
Bookmarked with Digg & Stumbleupon
Ran through BMD
Made a few comments on high PR page blogs
Made a quick video with animoto - sent to a few places and added to blog post
Article to ezine articles and go articles
Link on three websites (friends)
3 unique articles for spinning which is about to be run through unique article wizard tomorrow
Some directory links through directory submitter
pinged everything

Well, the original blog post went in on page 7 on Saturday, no change then on Monday went AWOL. Tuesday still AWOL. Then today turned up on page 1, position 7 or 8.

So, nearly there Top 6 I dont think have changed.

I do know I am ahead of everyone else who is taking part but cannot get any higher.

Have not done anything for a few days, think I'll give up because taking too much time, let time decide.

I persume the age etc of the first couple are holding them in the top positions.

Its been nearly two weeks and a few things are still happening.

Oh well it was fun for the first week or so, you never know in a little time it may just jump up.
