"Macros - Let's Automate"
|
After a lot of thought, plus the popularity of a thread at another private forum, it's time for us to work on "MACROS". Macros are used to record and repeat things you do on your PC. It gives you the power to automate your repetive tasks without having to be a programmer. Macro recorders do take some time and effort to learn, but can greatly save tons and tons of time and effort over the long-haul. Who wants to join a macro team? My idea is that we all use the same macro recording software, so we can trade macros. Then, we go through all the free third party hosting accounts, and create a macro for each's sign up form, and we trade the macros we create with other Bombers. We each do a few, and pretty soon we'll have macros to create accounts at tons of the free hosting services. Instead of creating tons of Blogger accounts all at once, we create one account at tons of different hosts and services... Also, Tuelz should work well with macros, increasing their power alot. (I posted the following in the WF...If you have any recommendations, please post) I'm having a tough time deciding on which macro recording program to use. Here's the main requirements: - Able to share/export macros and .exes with other users of software - Price. Since I need this for a group project, price is a bigger factor than if just a singfle person was buying. - Can create a macro to run multiple macros. - Good at filling in web forms using data from a spread sheet Any advice or preferences?

Thanks guys... I am trying to come up with the best program to use, but every time I make a decision, something else comes up and I change my mind. It also seems they all require Excell, whereas I want to use Open Office. I'm sure others don't want to pay for Excell, either. There's so much that can be done...Like create bookmarking accounts, register free hosting accounts, etc. But macro programs have such a learning curve, I wonder if there isn't something better?

Thanks Kelvin... With some tweaking, that may work. The question is, how can we use this for multiple resources? Most programs, like Pete from Oz, allow you to create multiple accounts of the same service. For example, you can create 20 blogger accounts pretty fast. But instead of 20 blogger accounts, how about just 1 blogger one squidoo 1 hub page 1 tripod 1 google pages 1 blog... Same with bookmarking accounts... The one thing I don't want to do is have everyone (and me) spend more time trying to automate something that it would take just to do by hand.

HI Everyone, I've been incognito for awhile and will be until the new year... We are moving to Arizona and then I'm out of the country again. I have been using Macro Express for years. It is a great tool for automation. I use it for filling out forms to adding signature lines to creating accounts. In another bomber thread, we discussed it http://www.dombom.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=71&forum=DCForumID42. Here is the video I created to show how to make a blogger account. http://www.edwardaw.com/macroexpressdemo/demo2.html Attached in the MacroExpress file I used. Macro Express is NOT dependent on any particular program. It is self contained in terms of creating macros. It can pull data from Excel, Openoffice, MySql, etc. Basically anything you can do manually, MacroExpress can duplicate! It takes a little time to get up to speed with MacroExpress.. But if you are a bomber, it is no problem. Let me know what you think of the macro and created and what tweaks you thing would be beneficial and I can work on it as I have time. Blessings, Ed

The attachment in my previous post can be used as the skeleton for any blogging tool -- blogger, WP, Facebook, twitter, Squidoo, etc. Once we have all the requirements defined, then it is time to assign each participant, which accounts they will work on. Then using the macro I created (if you want), it is just tweaking it to fit that specific account. As the work is done, I am will to create the "master" macro that ties them all together. So basically, each person is creating a module. If this sounds good, I can spend some time in the macro to add comments so you know exactly what it does. I can also create more videos. But let me know fast. I am moving and leaving the country again in 2 weeks. By the way, this is a windows only program. Blessings, Ed P.S. I agree with Kurt that this way we can create tons of accounts across different platforms. It also has the benefit of not having a foot print like other programs.

There are basically two files that are created for each account... 1. The macro file. Self explanatory. 2. The data file. The data file contains all the data that the macro is using to populate the account signup pages for that particular account. It can be excel, openoffice, a database. I recommend open office, because it is something everyone can have access to -- free! You can see in the video I mentioned in the previous post, that I read from excel. It would be nice if all the data for all the accounts can be in one data file. However, the required inputs for each platform may be different. I am sure this can be worked out though. Hey Ed, I'm interested. Since you don't have much time, why don't you and I work together, then after that, I can teach anyone else, if they're interested. I'm never sure which email you use, so email me at: lvha@aol.com
