""How Much Money You Got?""

This is something I've thought about writing about for years and years and never have gotten around to it, until now...

When I used to have clients, or even friends with sites, they would always ask something like, "What can I do to make more money", or get more traffic, etc.

And I'd reply with a question of my own, "How much money you got"?

I get the "deer in the head lights" blank stare from virtually all of them.

My point is/was simple. How much money do you have for your marketing budget?

Do you have $10,000 now, and $200 a month?
Do you have $50 now and $50 a month?
$500 now and that's it?
None at all?

The same thing happens on forums all the time. Things like what's the best SEO strategy or how can I get more traffic?

And it goes beyond money. What are your assets?

Do you have hosting? Domains?

Got any skills? Know web design? Good writer/typist? SEO? Copy writing? Graphics?

How much time do you have? A day? A week?

What's your strength? What's your weakness?

Should the person with $10,000 + $200 a month have the same marketing plan as those with a budget of $50 a month?

If you don't have money, you better have time.

And if you really want to get the very best advice you should share some of these details.

Let's face it...How can anyone give decent advice without knowing these variables?

So, how much money you got?

-Boom boom boom boom.

I think this is a good point. It is important to understand that a penny saved is a penny earned and having a budget is very vital.

Good point. You have to treat your sites like businesses if you want to make serious cash. I think a lot of people miss out on that point.

Cheers,

Rich
