"Personalised Search Results (PSR's)"
|
Hi Kurt I notice you have added a 'Bookmark' Logo below the RSS Feed button at the top of the page, (or has it been there all the time and myopic ole' me just missed it? ) I've just read an interesting article by Eric Ward, on Dr Ralph Wilson's site Click Here to read the article. Quite interesting from an SEO standpoint. As you have added the ability for people 'bookmark' this site, would I be right in believing that you see PSR's as gaining in importance in the overall scheme of things? I've had 'Add to My Yahoo/MSN' buttons on most of my sites for two years now, and never really given much thought to them, until I read the above linked article. In addition to all the other 'rankings', could this be construed as evidence of a 'People-Power' ranking? Comments and observations gratefully received. Kind regards Ian

Here's the correct link, Ian had a typo/syntax problem above... http://www.wilsonweb.com/linking/ward-personalized-search.htmHey Ian and All... I've had the bookmark link for a few months... The article not only backs up my theory about "People Rank", it's also some more evidence to back up my claim of multiple algorithms. To say there's "one way" to optimize a page is prehistoric, IMO. I believe the future of SEO will be about variety, as opposed the precision of past SEO advice.

Hi Kurt and everyone, Sorry for my 'dyslexic fingers', with the link above. Thanks Kurt for fixing it. Duh! That means I am 'myopic', if that 'bookmark link' has been there for all that time, without me noticing it! Interesting comments, Kurt, regarding the way that SEO is evolving and will continue to evolve, I'm sure. Your philosophy will undoubtedly continue to work, provided we add in to the 'mix', all the parameters that these developments help us to identify and perhaps some, that are possibly still 'below the RADAR' of public scrutiny. But that's possibly a discussion for another day and in another place. Speak soon Kind regards Ian |

Hi Ian and All... Without seeming too self-serving, my strategies for SEO are still the same as they were when I first started this forum (aboutfour years ago), and even years before that. LSI, PAIR, et al are taken care of by my methods. This is why the LSI Tuel is 100% free, because I don't think it has a lot of value. This is despite other "experts" selling LSI related stuff based on PERCEIVED value, but not real value. Here's what I mean...I've always said to concentrate on multiple, related keywords and phrases on SEOed pages, contrary to the long-held notion that each page should concentrate on a single keyword/phrase. I've always mixed primary and secondary/related keywords. I've written instructions for the Google keyword tool to use the "related" suggestions. For example, for the keyword "travel" you used to see something like" travel tips cheap travel travel tickets ...etc. But Google would also show: hotels air fare car rentals (Note: Google doesn't display keywords quite like this anymore) ...And, I've aways suggested mixing the two to give pages the most potential COMBINATIONS of keywords. This fits right in with both LSI and PAIR, and I don't see any reason to change my methodology just because of some new catch phrases sweeping the SEO world. Whether it's to create "spammish" pages or totally unique, original content, my basic philosophy is still the same: Put as many words, in as many combos, on as many pages as possible, then link to those pages.
