LAST EDITED ON Jul-05-04 AT 03:29 PM (PST) John,I did notice on your results page a call this for the search box: <form method="POST" action="/cgi-bin/phatty/phatty.cgi?> <input name="skin" type="hidden" value="SNSdefault"> Where as the default results box is formed like so: <form method="POST"> <input name="skin" type="hidden" value="<% form.skin as html %>"> <input name="length" type="hidden" value="<% form.length as html %>"> Did you mess with default-box.html? I am curious on that note. Also our results are vastly different for 'ebooks' for a search. See here: http://www.digital-sales.com/ebook-search.htm I compared the two and we are different in that dept. However it all depends on what entries are in our dbs. Also just becuse you know that there is a Nascar ebook in clickbank doesn't mean that you have it in your db. Do a search for it in you db with a text editor maybe to see if is even there. I just redid my Fatbomb and I am trying to replicate your problem but haven't come across it yet. Sorry, ya gotta give me time to screw up! Chris |

Chris, To the best of recollection, I didn't touch that file. However, I could be mistaken. SNSdefault is the correct skin I'm using. Tell me which file to change and what to change it to, and we'll give it a whack and see what happens. Also, where, in Fatbomb, does it acquire the Searchfeed URL? I've noticed "ip=1.1.1.1" and it should be "ip=$ip". I see it in the skins section. Remember, I'm a late joiner of SF and have the new URL format. John |

FatBomb too PHAT? Is my FatBomb Engine (GothSeek.com) too PHAT (Pretty Hot And Temptin')? I logged into the Ensim Site admin CP today only to spot my '500' server errors where through the roof. Seems the number of searches/phrases being cached chewed up the disk space allotment that I had set (500MB). I immediately logged in and upped it to 1000MP but was wondering if anyone else had seen this happen and what they did to prevent the cache files from eating up the disk space. Maybe FatBomb could be modded to send an email to a specific address on a specified error type? Or does increasing the cache 'stale' time inhibit the creation of large caches? O.T. > ...additionally is there an easy way in Ensim to tell how much space each site is using (similar to the Bandwidth report)? I couldn't find any central list. ---------------------- Stanley aka Totenmaske Affiliate-Blog.com My FatBomb Feeds Cherry Bomb XML List GothSeek.com - the Gothic Search Engine - Powered by FatBomb! |

> Or does >increasing the cache 'stale' time inhibit the creation of >large caches? >I have had the caches get rather large too. The longer you set your cache time for, the larger the cache can get since it won't be deleted automatically until the expiration time. Of course when the cache expires, fatbomb has to go back out and retrieve new information for every search which takes longer. I don't know of any other hooks in Fatbomb to work around this right now. Bo BuyItBomb.com - Your Private Online Warehouse |

Ok, got another question for the 'gurus': I input a search parameter to Fatbomb. It returns results and says there are (5) pages of results. I have my ClickBank database, Google and Yahoo SEs enabled. When I click on page (2), I get the following: --FatBomb --Software Error --invalid search parameters at lib/Gamma/App/Default.pm line 30. Page in question is found by conducting search at: http://www.stars-n-stripes.us/search.html Any advice/fix would be appreciated. John |

John, The error is because the sign in between your keywords is missing in the links to pages 2 and higher. For example, search for gardening supplies - the first page is returned properly, but the link to other pages includes the search term as gardening supplies instead of gardening supplies. Did you make any changes to the program and/or template that would cause that? I'm away from home right now, so I can't look at the code, but that's where to start. Jeff

Hi all, I am having a weird problem with my fatbomb install. I install and set permissions as stated in the readme file and select some search engine databases 3 to be exact, then I use the test button and fb returns results. When I do a second search from test box or search box I get no results and it crashes my browser IE6.0.2 sp1. Here is where my install is: http://www.top---10.com/cgi-bin/fb/f.cgi Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks Gary |

Gary, It sounds like the exact same problem as described in posts 22 & 23 above. Although now that I've had some time to look at my own Fatbomb installation, my keywords don't have the " " sign in them either, so my suggestion of the possible problem to John isn't accurate. Most of the other bombs have " " between each word in a phrase, so I thought Fatbomb did too, but it doesn't. My installation is working on a 2nd search or on page 2, however. Will have to look into this a bit more. Jeff

LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-04 AT 09:21 PM (PST) John & Gary,Look in the "deafult-results.html" at the very end it should look like this: {% else %} <a href="/cgi-bin/fatbomb/fatbomb.cgi/?skin={% form.skin as url %}. . . . . . .]</a>{% end %} Obviously replace /cgi-bin/fatbomb/fatbomb.cgi with the path to your file. And remember I put the "curly brackets" in above for the forum. They are really square brackets. That is (most likely) the pain-in-your-butt right there. The script isn't understanding or diggin'on the bad parameter for skin=. Gary, also, your skin value isn't filled in in your search form: <form method="POST"> <input name="skin" type="hidden" value=""> <input name="length" type="hidden" value=""> The "default-box.html" will be as so: <form method="POST"> <input name="skin" type="hidden" value="{% form.skin as html %}"> <input name="length" type="hidden" value="{% form.length as html %}"> Chris |

LAST EDITED ON Apr-07-06 AT 11:51 AM (PST) John,That error is caused by not having Blogbomb installed...Fatty is trying to read it, and it isn't there... You have three options... 1 Install Blogbomb - I'll email it to you, but don't have a Readme for it, as I depend on Kirill to take care of that stuff. 2 Go to "Feeds" in your FatBomb Admin and delete the path to BlogBomb there. 3. Send me your ftp info and we'll have Kirill install and fix everything. I suggest we do #2 and #3...Go ahead and delete the path to Blogbomb, just to mess around with Fatty, then send me your FTP info and have Kirill install Blogbomb and SpiderBomb and get everything configed properly.

Hi I have been using fatbomb successfully on my servers for almost 2 years. Suddenly it takes 90 seconds to load. The techs said i need to see the developer. I say something is wrong or something happened to the server. ONly 2 instances are having this problem the other bombs work fine. I changed the fatbomb.cgi file name, still a problem. Thought it may be perl version, but again other fatbombs works. The site is only slow when trying to search. http://localbizus.com/small/local.cgi/ Any ideas. >I say something is wrong or something happened to the >server. > >ONly 2 instances are having this problem the other bombs >work fine. > Kelvin,The logical place to start is, what resources/engines/databases are the two slow instances using that the "fast" instances aren't? My immediate thought is one of the engines changed their format...On a hunch check Looksmart, they change their layout almost daily, it seems. If it isn't Looksmart, see what engines you use that aren't being used on the fast FatBombs.
